Monte Carlo 32 in the area of Monaco 2008
Monte Carlo 32 in the area of Monaco 2008
The Monte Carlo 32 from Beneteau testing in Monaco. The Monte Carlo 32 looks just like it's bigger brother the Monte Carlo 37 that came onto the scene at the London Boat Show 2007. The modern contemporary looks combined with it's patented Air Step Hull makes it the leader in the range for around £90,000.

The Monte Carlo 32 comes in two main bodies, either an Open cockpit or with a Hard Top and an electricaly retractable sun roof to help to give as much protection as possible from the elements. The Hard Top is an option for an extra £7,000 and with the British weather could be well worth the extra giving the owner many more on the water days with the added protection.

Beneteau’s patented solution called “Air Step” allows air to be drawn into the space beneath the hull immediately behind the step via two tubes. On the Monte Carlo 37 you can find the input just at the bottom of the windscreen. On the Monte Carlo 32 we find two small stainless covers to the side of each hull just slightly forward and below of the windscreen on the side on the hull. This is just a natural improvement in the Air Step system that first came onto the market only last year. This allows Beneteau some improvement during assembly with a less complex tube fitting, saving time and money.

The whole Monte Carlo range have had the touch of the design expertise of Pierangelo Andreani and his design team and this has certainly helped to create an overall modern, sleek and stylish appearance enhanced by it's distinctive red hull.

The cockpit instruments are housed in a sleek looking brushed steel surround that gives hte initial impression of a luxury German sports car, with it’s white dial faces and silver surrounds and it looks very impressive. The dials and gauges all fit around the centrally placed RayMarine 120 multi functional display which performed well in all light conditions. The twin engine power controls came easily to the right hand and a very comfortable seating position with the two-seater seat with the folding bolster panel. This seat is really great for dads or mums for that matter wanting to share the driving fun with inquisitive guests.

Access to the cabin and head below is via the door portside to the cockpit driving position. This is a nice touch that keeps in the with the detail that helps to keep this boats modern and contemporary look. The effort to keep this boat modern and contemporary has been implemented in just about everything, from it’s light clean wood finish to the door handles and even to the most modern of light fittings in the saloon lounge area showing an extra attention to detail and style.

Behind the seats there is a covered area that completes the areas in the bow space. This becomes part of the main cabin bed. Beneteau have done a great job of increasing this area as simply as possible. No fitting and fiddling with separate parts that have to be shoe-horned into place. With the 32 Open and Hard top it’s just a case of moving up the lower seating section via it’s telescopic mounting pole. A very simple and convenient solution. There are always things on boats that require some special fitting and fixtures, but this is a nice simple solution to a problem that might have otherwise been solved with whole range of complicated fitted wooden panels.

The Monte Carlo range from Beneteau incorporating the Air Step system provides a motor boat with good economical gains. With a choice of either petrol or diesel drives, hard or open top all options are covered. The Monte Carlo 32 has exceptional precise handling qualities during cornering plus this is a boat that can be parked in any harbour and won’t look out of place. The boat looks sleek and stylish and if it doesn’t look out of place in a Monte Carlo harbour, it won’t look out of place in your local harbour either.
