Matrix Yachts is a family owned business that is passionate about building stylish luxurious sailing catamarans. The company is an accredited member of the South African Boat Builders Business Council.

The vision to build large luxury sailing catamarans was spawned by Peter, Fiona & Mark while they were operating charter yachts in the Caribbean. The combination of their extensive sailing and chartering experience, as well as Peter’s Structural Engineering background has made this Company a world recognized manufacturer of high quality yachts. Between them they have well in excess of 300,000 miles of blue water sailing and decades of chartering experience.

Peter Wehrley is the CEO of the company and is a registered professional structural engineer with many years of experience. Over the years he pioneered the development of many successful innovative designs and building techniques in the building industry. He also has a strong aviation back ground and has received many recognitions for his contributions. This is reflected in the company’s unique and aesthetically tasteful designs. In 2007 Peter won the South African Boating’s innovator of the year award.

Amongst other tasks Fiona Wehrley attends to the administration of the company’s business affairs. Because of her intimate knowledge of yachts she is often called upon to assist with the planning and quality control of the construction of the yachts.

Mark Wehrley is a well experienced MCA Class 4 Master Mariner with six trans Atlantic crossings as Captain to his credit. He has captained many large sailing and power yachts and operated charter yachts for many years. Mark is one of the founder members of the company.

The Silhouette 760 was the first yacht that the company designed and built. Its innovative use of space and unrivaled master cabin has earned it the distinction of being one of the most desirable yachts in its category. In 2006 the Silhouette 760 won the South African Boating award for the best sailing craft over 10 meters. To date three Silhouettes 760 have been launched and all are extremely successful charter yachts in the Caribbean and have won numerous awards. Where ever the yachts go they turn heads and are showered with compliments.

The Vision 450 is a modern innovative catamaran that follows many of the same ground breaking concepts and styling of its larger sister. It was debuted at the 2009 Cape Town Boat show where it was very well received. The yacht has a bright future as a private or bare boat charter yacht.

The Mirage 720 day sail charter catamaran is the latest addition to the company’s range. The first yacht is being currently being constructed and its planned launch date is September 2010
