![]() Knox in socks, and some new tops. Leading sailing clothing manufacturer, Henri-Lloyd, has been chosen as Official Technical Clothing Sponsor to Sir Robin Knox-Johnston when he competes in the VELUX 5 OCEANS round the world race, which commences on the 22 October 2006 from Bilbao, Spain, on board his yacht, Saga Insurance. "During that time our gear has continually evolved so that when Sir Robin sets out from Bilbao he will be wearing our latest state-of-the-art gear which will include Ocean Racer tops and bottoms, some of our new revolutionary 'Atmosphere 360' range, and our TP waterproof and breathable leather boots. We look forward to helping Sir Robin complete another successful race around the world!"
Henri Lloyd's relationship with Sir Robin goes back to 1968, when Sir Robin wore Henri Lloyd as he became the first person to sail non-stop around the planet on Suhaili in The Sunday Times Golden Globe, since then Sir Robin has had a close friendship with Henri Lloyd, so it was a natural decision to for both to work together again on Sir Robin's next epic transglobe race. {josquote}In 1968, I (Sir Robin Knox-Johnston) had a set of Henri Lloyd foul weather gear which got me around the world in 312 days, so it is natural to keep to a good formula. I am delighted that Henri Lloyd has joined my new project as Technical Clothing Sponsor for the VELUX 5 OCEANS.{/josquote} Sir Robin will be kitted out in the latest Henri Lloyd lightest, stripped lean GORE-TEXR Ocean Racing Range, as well as the latest developments in Henri-Lloyd's Soft Shell, Thermal, Fast-Dri and Marine Footwear ranges. The clothing supplied features many of the developments introduced in Henri-Lloyd's new 2006 & 2007 range's. Henri-Lloyd is also supplying Sir Robin's support team with all their technical and shore wear team kit. |
