Flying in especially to race in Cowes, Chris Bartlett and Mike Urquhart, winners of the Formula Honda championship in New Zealand finished a solid race coming home in tenth. In an eventful 150hp race, Premier Cru took their first ever win in the championship ahead of current champions Claygate Bathrooms in second, and Lings Honda in third. "We’re chuffed to bits with our win here in Cowes. We’ve had a few problems this season, but we’ve worked hard on the boat this week and it’s paid off" commented Jonny Twelvetrees, navigator of Premier Cru. Driver, Neil Crabb added: "It was nip and tuck at the start with Claygate, but in the rough seas our boat performs well so we were able to pull away." The conditions proved too much for Delmar Flooring and Secure Computing who were forced to retire. Local radio presenter, Steve Power, from Southampton based Wave FM put in an admirable performance in his first ever powerboat race, pushing hard to finish in 15th position. In an equally thrilling 225hp race, Stopbox Lighting stormed home in first place ahead of a newly invigorated Heights of Abraham who finished in second. 2005 225hp champions Team Raymarine completed the podium, finishing in third place.

Jack Glendinning, driver of Stopbox Lighting said: "It was rough out there today, but we’re really pleased we got the win and came through the race in one piece. We backed off towards the end as the water became lumpy but made sure we kept Heights of Abraham and good distance behind us."
