![]() Beneteau hanging out to increase foreign sales The Beneteau Group certainly continues to hold a firm grip on the worlds consumer sail and motor market as it holds brands including Lagoon and Wauquiez and of course Jeanneau in it's large portfolio. However the group really must want to increase other European markets as well as eastern markets like China in order to redress the balance of having some 31% sales coming from France. So with news that the First 44.7 has already won 4 regatta's in it's debut season can only come to boost charmain Bruno Cathelinais request of achieving sales figures of 1 Billion Euros by 2008, a big increase on an expected 816 Million for FY 2005-2006. If the message spreads and sales follow suit, perhaps the groups targets will be achieved. Not surprising is that the lions share of the 816 Million Euro, 2/3rds of it actually, come from the sailing market, so results like First 44.7 beating everything in sight can make an impact on sales figures. Since it's release the First 44.7 from Bénéteau has clocked some impressive victories in several world class regattas. 1st Yachting Cup Regatta (PHRH 4, FRENCH BREAD), San Diego, USA, May 2006 1st NYYC Annual Regatta (PHRF 5, FOUR STARS), Newport, USA, June 2006 1st Newport to Bermuda Race (IRC 10 FOUR STARS), Newport, USA, June 2006 2nd BMW Round Ireland Yacht Race (IRC 0 WHITETIGER), Ireland, July 2006 1st Rolex Commodore's Cup (Team France Blanc, COURRIER DU COEUR), England, July 2006. With the First 44.7 launched just over a year ago, and became "Boat of the Year" category Cruiser / Racer for the American magazine "Sailing World", Beneteau are hoping that this might help to increase brand exposure to overseas markets. |
