![]() Will it deliver? According to the BMF, a decision has been taken to focus the show on the leisure marine industry, and therefore bring a close to the Watersports Arena and East Hall. I remember the Watersports Arena, getting deafened, wet and blown to bits whilst people fell into the indoor pool in the name of entertainment. Instead, the money will be reinvested in features and the overall experience in the North and South Halls as well as the Dockside facilities. It's certainly true that for a warebased show the doklands makes sense, however what is also true that some of the city slickers with bonuses burning a whole in their pockets are not likely to pass by either. James Gower and the National Boat Shows team including Consultant Creative Director, Tim Pyne have ensured that the Show becomes a resource for learning and fun. The two of them have even gone to the trouble of inventing a new word to describe what will awaits un in January 2007, its something called 'educainment'. I can only presume that this is a mix of entertaiment and education. James Gower, one of the show's organisers, said: "We have listened to extensive feedback from exhibitors, media and visitors and have taken all of this on board. As a result, we believe we've created one of the most exciting London Boat Shows visitors will have ever seen. It will appeal to all our marine enthusiasts, as well as offering an unforgettable experience to new visitors." These are quite bold statements, and it will be interesting to see what exactly get delivered. It might be "creatastful", (creative and tasteful ) or perhaps it might be "crudraining". (crude and draining). |
