Tarquin's Trader 42 makes a splash at the London Show

Designed and manufactured by the Tarquin Boat Company, the Generation II Trader 42 is as iconic as her best selling predecessor, the Trader 41+2 and combines Trader's proven pedigree with Generation II evolution. The 42 has been designed in collaboration with leading naval architect, Tony Castro and features sleek exterior styling, 'home from home' interior and state of the art systems putting her at the top of her class on all levels.

Up to 75 different configuration possibilities are available thanks to the sophisticated composite construction techniques and moulding technologies used by Trader's factory facility. Offering a choice of three deck options; a standard raised aft-deck, a Sport Deck and a full flybridge, the 42 also has two internal layouts to choose from with either two or three cabins.

With an air-draft that can be reduced to 3.5m, the 42 is the first Trader to open up the cruising grounds of Europe's inland waterways and the Upper Thames. Equally at home on rougher waters, the Trader 42 has maintained the excellent sea-keeping capabilities of the Trader 41+2 and performance is even better thanks to modifications to the hull design detailing which has enabled the propellers to be housed in tunnels to reduce draft and drag, increasing the 42's speed capabilities up to 25 knots.

The Trader 42 features a walk-around recessed bulwark and one metre high hand rails to ensure everyone feels safe at sea, regardless of experience. Designed to be CE CAT A, other features include MCA spec ground tackle, raised mooring gear and a side deck door to the saloon. Access to the engine room is easy with plenty of room inside to inspect the systems without dismantling saloon furniture as is common with other craft in her Class.

Another new feature that sets the 42 aside from others in her Class is the cleverly designed saloon area where the seating area has been raised so that external views can be enjoyed instead of just the horizon. Two tinted skylights transform the saloon into a light and airy open space for dining and relaxing during the day and a breathtaking ceiling when night falls. The galley is well equipped and will keep any budding chef happy.

A choice of two or three cabins is available on the Trader 42.The comprehensive system design utilises the finest components available and has been created in partnership with the suppliers to ensure full integration. Power is provided by the twin Cummins OSB 5.9 at 380hp or 425hp for a 25 knot performance. LEWMAR, Raymarine and Grohe are just some of the premium brands used. The electrical system has been developed with Mastervolt and the 42 is the first production yacht offered with their 5-year limited warranty.
