![]() Matt Sims flying the 5 Anchor Flag The award scheme is an independent assessment of marina facilities, management systems and customer service. It is the equivalent of the hotel 'star rating' system, with 5 Gold Anchors being the top award.Royal Quays Marina is the only coastal marina in the whole of the north of England & Scotland to have been rated so highly. The marina is firmly established as the premier boating facility in the region & provides an ideal base on the north east coast. The marina which opened 7 years ago is built in the former Albert Edward Dock and forms the heart of the prestigious Royal Quays regeneration scheme. The marina exemplifies the transformation which the area has undergone. It is gratifying to know that here in the north east we have boating facilities that can stand comparison with the best in the UK and overseas Marina Manager Matt Simms Quay Marinas Ltd. operates five other marinas at locations around the country namely: Conwy (North Wales); Penarth (Cardiff Bay); Bangor (Belfast Lough) and Portishead (Bristol Channel). All of the marinas in the group also achieved 5 Gold Anchors other than at Portishead which gained 4 Gold Anchors, a reflection of the ongoing development and building work on site. When this work is complete Portishead will join the other marinas as a 5 Gold Anchor facility. |
