First impressions of the Monte Carlo 32

Beneteau have just announced that the successor to the new Monte Carlo 32 will be launched at Southampton and Cannes Boat Shows this September 2007.

The Monte Carlo 32 will be equipped with a choice of stern drive propulsion units, as it is offered with Volvo 5.7 GI DPS (2 x 270 HP) petrol engines or 2 x 190 HP Volvo D3 diesel engines. No price details have yet come from Beneteau, but we expect aggressive pricing and we estimate that with the Volvo drives, to be around £125,000 including VAT for the 2x190 Volvo's.

Like its big brother, the Monte Carlo 37, the MC 32 Open benefits from the patented Air Step hull (co-inventors P.Tableau, M.Tronquez, R.Laval-Jeantet) and also comes from the designer hand of the Italian Pierangelo Andréani.

Like the bigger brother the Monte Carlo 37, the MC 32 Open has it's deck plan is arranged in three areas: - The saloon, which will accommodate 6 passengers and can be converted to a sunbathing platform, opens onto the bathing platform with built-in foldaway bathing ladder. In the cockpit, there is also a foldaway unit with sink and mixer tap as well as the refrigerator (42 Litres) and grill (optional). - A deckchair (1.2m + 0.6m) x 0.4m for one person to starboard with stowage for a 10-person liferaft built in beneath the seat. - The helm position has a two-seater driving seat, which is adjustable with a bolster function. The sport instrument panel is in metallic grey with rev counter and built-in switches. The 3-spoke steering wheel, electric Volvo engine controls, position for a Raymarine E80 or E120 multifunction screen and co-pilot's handrail complete this area.

Inside there the interior combines refined lines with contemporary textures and materials (Wenge and light oak stained woodwork, beige, white and hemp coloured fabrics). The saloon (1.8m headroom at the companionway and 1.7m at the forward end of the saloon) has a 5-seater sofa that can be converted into extra berth space for a child (length 1.47m).

Like the aft cabin, the owner's cabin, ventilated by two opening ports and a hatch, has a double berth with marine mattress (2 x 1.67m). The head compartment (1.85m headroom) is fitted with a marine toilet, washbasin with mixer tap and shower curtain. Ventilation is provided by one port and an opening hatch.
