A new direction for Jeanneau

New images of the SunFast 3200 in action at. This model will be a new direction for Jeanneau, as this model is aimed exclusively at the day sailers, racers, where performance is important with a price tag of about £65,000 with no sails included. With a look very similar to the IMOCA Open 60, with it's flat wide rear transom and it's twin rudders, this is a sailing boat that is modelled on it's bigger racing brothers.

In sailing terms, this is the equivalent to the Ford Cosworth, as boy racer as you can get, from a major manufacturer. As yet, no definite price is available, which will be critical to it's success as it has to lure potential customers from purchasing a more conventional cruiser racer boat. Jeanneau it seems is following a lead from it's fellow French company Renault, in build products for racing, then produce similar models for the consumer market.

Two rear cabins and no forward cabin in the 3200

To help promote this new model from Jeanneau, the organizers of the Transquadra race have selected the Sun Fast 3200, promote this series with its own race boat classification. The success not only depends on it's publicity but at the price. Without much of the trimmings of your typical cruising boat, let's hope Jeanneau manage to bring this to market at a price that encourages potential buyers to select the 3200, instead of the safer bet of a conventional cruising boat.
