Merseyside hosts world's largest offshore powerboat championship
It might be Merseysiders football derby weekend on Saturday 8th, but Liverpool hosts the final of the world's largest offshore powerboat championship this weekend 9th-10th September the 2006 Honda Formula 4-Stroke Powerboat Series.

Racing starts at 12.00 noon and with more boats battling it out than ever before, large crowds are expected along the Mersey to witness some close and exhilarating racing.

As the Series eighth successful season comes to a close, adrenalin is expected to be high with competitors from all corners of the UK and beyond fighting it out for the title of champion. The final round of this spectacular championship takes place on the River Mersey with 32 teams competing across the 150hp and 225hp classes.

Series director and seven-time UIM World Powerboat Champion, Steve Curtis, commented: "2006 has been a fantastic year for the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Series with tens of thousands of people coming out to see close, professional racing in each location we have visited. Both the 150hp and 225hp classes have provided fantastic entertainment for the crowds and promise to offer the same again this weekend as the championship title is up for grabs."
