Easy Mooring AKA Dock and Go from Beneteau 

Earlier in spring this year I had a chance to test the new joystick controlled mooring system fitted to a new Sense 50 sail boat from Beneteau . The system modifies the standard Yanmar saildrive unit so that the propellor can rotate through 360° in less than 1 second. By engaging the joystick control at the cockpit the wheel becomes locked and the only control left is the small joystick that powers the bow thruster as well as the modified sail drive unit.

We can all be uncomfortable mooring a 50 foot boat with a cynical dock site audience, however with Dock and Go from Beneteau  what might of been a stressful situation can now be controlled in a much easier manner, just using the joystick from the cockpit. Was it easy or intuitive? Yes. It did take a little getting used to but mooring up a 50 foot boat with just 2 crew would be very easy after juts a little practise.
